Commercial Eyes is delighted that the Melbourne City Mission’s Sleep at the ‘G on Thursday 22 May was well supported again this year with more than 1100 people braving the cold to experience something of the hardships of being homeless.
Participants slept on cardboard beds on the level B1 concourse of the iconic MCG after a basic dinner of pie, soup and bread. An early wake up call at 6am was followed by a breakfast of coffee and muffins. Entertainment was a large part of the night with Mark Seymour, Adalita and Lurch & Chief playing on despite some light rain.
At last count, almost $500 000 had been raised to support homeless and disadvantaged young people in Melbourne.
Commercial Eyes has been a proud supporter of Melbourne City Mission for more than ten years. Our Managing Director, Andrew Carter, chairs the Melbourne City Mission Board.
