We have a great opportunity for an Accountant Assistant to join our Finance team. You will be responsible for a broad range of payroll, accounts, and finance tasks.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Accountant to join our Finance team. In this 8-month fixed-term, part-time role (30 hours per week), you will work closely with the Finance Manager and other team members, playing a crucial role in the day-to-day administration of our Finance function. 

You will be responsible for conducting financial analysis, preparing financial reports, and managing the preparation of all tax and statutory compliance obligations. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of an effective financial system, ensuring the integrity of our financial management and quality assurance processes.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly accruals, general ledger journals, and other financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Reconciliations: Conduct bank reconciliations, including credit and debit cards.
  • Payroll Administration: Manage payroll functions and all related activities.
  • Accounts Management: Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable functions Compliance: Prepare IAS, BAS, payroll tax, superannuation, and other statutory compliance.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain Zoho Analytics and CRM, monitor Abtrac data entry, and ensure accurate project setup.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Finance team to identify and implement business process improvements.
  • Support & Ad Hoc Duties: Assist the Finance Manager & Head of Finance and handle ad hoc tasks to support the finance function’s smooth operation.

About you

You are a meticulous and analytical individual with a passion for financial accuracy and integrity. Your attention to detail, coupled with your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enables you to manage complex financial data with precision. You possess excellent organisational and time management abilities, allowing you to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with ease. Integrity, confidentiality, and a proactive approach are central to your work ethic, empowering you to work independently or collaborate effectively within a team. 

 

Desired qualifications and experience
  • Tertiary education in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA / CA qualified or working towards qualification.
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting role in a commercial business.
  • Demonstrated competency with financial systems, including MYOB and ERPs.
  • Strong Excel capabilities, ranging from intermediate to advanced, with extensive experience using Microsoft Office applications.
