Simon Higgins Head of Commercialisation Services

With experience spanning more than two decades in the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries, Simon is well placed to leverage his considerable commercialisation knowledge and understanding as Head of Commercialisation Services at Commercial Eyes.

A career that includes leadership roles and encompasses a breath of exposure across therapeutic areas in market access, sales and commercial operations, at a number of world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, a thorough understanding of the Australian, New Zealand & broader regional healthcare environment, gives Simon what it takes to communicate goals clearly and empower the working relationships around him.

Simon’s experience includes Health Economics and Market Access roles at Boehringer Ingelheim and Hospira, before transitioning into increasingly senior commercial roles. These roles have included managing Hospira’s New Zealand commercial operations prior to their acquisition by Pfizer; the management of Pfizer’s Hospital Injectables business post acquisition and most recently, Director of Access, Policy and Advocacy at Bristol-Myers Squibb (Australia).

Throughout his career, Simon has consistently been exposed to the considerable value that service and solution providers such as Commercial Eyes bring to the commercialisation process. From contributing to strategy development, through to providing highly technical skills and services, companies operating in Australia and New Zealand place significant trust in organisations like Commercial Eyes. Exposure to the broad variety of projects and the different ways of working, combined with the opportunity to contribute to a vast array of projects that ultimately benefit patients and the respective healthcare systems, inspired Simon to take a senior role in a leading health technology business.

As the Head of Commercialisation Services, Simon leverages his expertise and extensive knowledge of the medicines life cycle. Simon’s sound commercial thinking, underpinned by his practical, analytical and holistic approach makes him a natural fit to lead the highly capable consulting teams in Market Insight, Regulatory, Market Access, Pricing & Policy and Medical Communications & Patient Engagement at Commercial Eyes.

In addition to being a champion of healthcare commercialisation, Simon is a dedicated and passionate cyclist, he chooses to commute to work on his bike & spends weekends doing epic bike races, in-between a busy schedule running his three children to their various sporting commitments of netball, basketball and hockey and enjoying the outdoors with his wife.

Simon has accomplished an extensive education, acquiring a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy), a Master of Public Health (Health Economics) and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Melbourne. Simon kicked off his career in healthcare, practicing as a physiotherapist before to finding his calling in the pharmaceutical industry.
