Andrew CarterManaging Director
Andrew is the founder and Managing Director of Commercial Eyes Pty Ltd and has 30 years commercial experience working in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
Andrew established Commercial Eyes Pty Ltd in 2001. In August 2012, Commercial Eyes was recognised as one of the leading ‘medium sized’ businesses in Australia as a finalist in the Telstra Business Awards. Today, the company is one of the foremost pharmaceutical and medical device commercialisation firms in Australia and New Zealand, employing nearly 100 staff.
In 2014, Andrew received the Australian medicine industry’s highest honour, the Pat Clear Award, in recognition of the significant role he, and Commercial Eyes, has played in supporting companies to bring important medicines into the Australian market.
In addition to Andrew’s leadership and industry experience, he is a highly qualified and skilled company director, with nearly twenty years of governance experience, both in the private and public sector.
Andrew is currently a non-executive director of ARCS Ltd, immediate past Chair of BioMelbourne Network Inc (a Victorian based life science industry association representing over 220 member companies). He is currently a member of the Medicines Australia Advisory Council and the University of Melbourne, Master of Biotechnology Advisory Board. He has been a member of numerous industry association groups including Medicines Australia’s Strategy Committee; Access Committee, Quality Use of Medicines and Continuing Education Working Groups; and he is a former member of the National Prescribing Service, Medicines Industry Liaison Group.
In addition to Andrew’s medicines and medical device industry roles, he has a strong commitment to social justice and the not for profit sector. He is an active volunteer both at board and operational level.
Andrew is a member of ARCS, the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and a graduate of numerous directorship and board programs. He is a presenter in the highly regarded AICD Directors Course and a regular facilitator of AICD programs.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Pharmacology and Immunology (Monash), a Graduate Diploma of Business (Swinburne) and Master of Commercial Law (Monash).
